Retained EU Law after Brexit - update

The Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Act 2023 came into force on 29 June 2023 and did not create the wholesale scrapping of existing laws as envisaged in the original bill.  The  Government has published a schedule of EU law that will be revoked by 31 December 2023.

Despite the narrowed scope of scrapped laws with no replacements, the Act will still create uncertainty for businesses. Ministers are given wide-ranging powers to amend and replace EU-derived legislation and the courts may depart from retained case law.   You can find a list of revoked laws here: Schedule of retained EU law - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk). #business#legaladvice
